The beautiful cover art was the main reason I ordered it and I love it. Of course having a guide for games like Bloodborne and Dark souls are always handy to have too. I'm just sad it was so beaten up on delivery (pages warped and cover dented) and have to return it and wait for a replacement (no fault of future press. Amazon really needs to step up their packaging on their books because this has happened to me before.)UPDATE: My replacement came in and it was in much better condition though the pages are still slightly warped it's not nearly as noticeable as the first one I had in so I will keep it. Here's few pictures of the art inside for those who were interested in that since that was one of my main reasons for getting it.

If you have the guide book for the main game of Bloodborne than this book will be pretty much the same layout except be about the old Hunter DLC. This book covers how to get to the new DLC, the changes the various updates have made to the game up to version 1.07, and everything you will need to survive the Nightmare...again. The chapters are:1.Training Manual- This basically covers how to access the new DLC step by step. It also covers all the game updates and various things that have changed such as certain weapons using less stamina, increased storage of certain items, and so on. It also has the attack speed and stamina use of all the weapons in an easy to read format so that you can compare them all on the spot.2. Hunting Grounds- This chapter goes over all the new areas and tells you the locations of enemies, where to find items, enemy stats, the best paths to take, secret areas, and basically everything about the areas.3. The Bestiary- This covers all the new enemies, bosses, and npc's and tells you there stats, weaknesses, strategies, how many blood echoes they drop, items they might drop, where they are found, and with the bosses it also tells you if certain attacks are interruptible.4. Arsenal and Attire- This covers all the new weapons and items. It tells you there damages in regular and transformed mode, gives you strategies, best runes to use with them, where to find them, and skill scaling. It also goes over the new arcane items, gestures, and attire.5. Hunters Appendices- This goes over all the NPC's and quests you can do with each and how to get all the items they can give. It has the trophy guide, and goes over the story and lore of the game which really helps because honestly I have no idea what's going on in the game and I've even platinumed it. Finally it has a little bit of artwork of the game.So basically if you have the First guide for this game its the same thing pretty much but covering the DLC and for those of you who don't have that guide I would suggesting both that one Bloodborne Collector's Edition Strategy Guide and this one. They will not only help you platinum the game and die A LOT less, but this guide will go over the story and help explain a lot. The cover of the book looks awesome and the back is just black with a little sword.I cant recommend this book enough and its an excellent companion to an excellent game

It's rare to see Future Press make a guide for the expanded content of a game. When Dark Souls and Dark Souls II got their expansions, Future Press wasn't in sight at all with a guide to cover new content and items. In their introduction Future Press admits they wanted to do such things for expansions but could never really justify it. Here, they just went for it. The end result is a guide that stays incredibly consistent with the original guide published. But rather than publishing a whole new book (that would amount to near 800 pages if they did) they merely covered the expansion by itself. Needless to say, you won't get any content for the original game if you don't have the original guide. Therefore, you might want to think of the guide itself as also an expansion.The layout is almost exactly the same as the original guide, but this time it jumps right in. The original guide spent a lot of time getting you acquainted with the game. This one, however, assumes you're already familiar with the systems found in Bloodborne. This guide isn't treating "The Old Hunters," like a new game, but assuming that you already know Bloodborne's various systems in and out. What it does do, however, is point out the changes made in the various patches over time and how they will affect the gameplay. The opening section of the guide spends more time getting you familiar with the updates rather than familiar with the game itself. This is perhaps what I like most about this guide. It doesn't spend a lot of time rehashing stuff from the previous guide. Everything it does rehash is all quick. There is a table for the weapons and a quick call out to previous enemies they've already discussed.This doesn't mean it'll shorthand you in all the areas. The guide has no qualms jumping int the walkthrough and it's written exactly as it was before. The walkthrough has markers on the maps that guide you through the various areas of The Hunter's Nightmare, pointing out branching paths and pointing out items along the way. The walkthrough is going to feel quick, however. It'll give you combat scenarios and how to deal with them, but for the most part, it spends time focusing on what to do at certain points. The walkthrough itself doesn't have boss strategies or individual enemy strategies. All that stuff is saved for later. The walkthrough gets the job done, but as with the original guide, the stuff beyond the walkthrough is far more valuable and insightful.First there is the bestiary. This section gives step by step tip son how to defeat each and every new enemy encountered in The Old Hunters. More than that, the guide also provides the expert boss strategies necessary to get past the strongest of foes. They're precise and in depth. A part of me still wishes they were in the walkthrough itself, but the fact that they're as in depth and as good as they are will have to suffice. The strategies always give an overview and then detail the battle itself and also talk about the environment you're fighting in. They're usually helpful tips and to the point.The Old Hunters introduces a LOT of fascinating new weapons and this guide will help you understand how they work. Diagrams show how their swings work, how fast and how effective they can be. They also detail how to scale the weapon to the best of its abilities and offer advice on which gems to attach to it. This is where I got some of the most out of the guide simply because the new weapons were amazing, and it helped to recognize how they work. This is especially true if you've engaged in PVP or cooperation and seen these weapons in action without having them yourself. There is also a lot of useful information on the new items and attire you'll find as well.Another useful portion of the book is that the guide also gives individual strategies for each hunter. It talks about the weapons they use and how to defeat them. There's always a good breakdown.A lot of game include trophies now, but I'm always surprised how many guides neglect a Trophy Guide. It's starting to become standard to include a trophy guide for those who want it and I'm glad to see it here. It'll point out trophies but sometimes the strategies are located elsewhere in the guide and you'll have to flip back. It's an interesting concept and I'm glad more guides are starting to do this. It's pretty good here and it's great some of these strategies are in the walkthrough. Other times, it has quick references for you. For instance, in terms of getting all the weapons, there's a handy chart to point to where all of them are.If you were one that was particularly interested in the lore of Bloodborne the last chapter might be the most fascinating for you. The last bit spends a lot of time talking about the lore and going in depth about the story of Bloodborne. It does this by showing connections between locations, characters and even talks about the items in your inventory that add to it. If need be, they'll also utilize dialog to help you understand the lore as well. Dialog drawn directly from the game. It all comes together to provide a coherent and in-depth interpretation of the events of Bloodborne. If you're curious about the lore and want to know more, this is a nice bit. Although it's still just as fun to learn of these things on your own. At least it serves as a great reference. The last bit is an art gallery and it's pretty amazing to look at. A nice bit of closure to such a fantastic guide.The best part about this guide is that you can use as much or as little as you like and still feel like it's helping to enhance the game compliment the game itself. It's a detailed guide. If you've got Bloodborne and you need some help with The Old Hunters, this is a great guide to invest in.

With the wonders of capitalistically fueled competition, each edition of all 4 novels and 56 short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is beginning to look more and more similar. Not all are created quite as equal as one would think, however. Read on to find out more.In my quest to find the holy grail of Sherlock Holmes literature, aka; THE definitive collection of original, Conan Doyle penned stories, I actually ended up buying (and reading and rereading) 3 different versions. My assessment of all 3 is as follows:1 - Sherlock Holmes: The Ultimate Collection - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DCD53C2/ref=x_gr_w_bb?ie=UTF8&tag=httpwwwgoodco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00DCD53C2&SubscriptionId=1MGPYB6YW3HWK55XCGG2)* This is a perfectly adequate collection. It DOES include all 4 novels and 56 short stories, but the book is all text, with no real illustrations to speak of. When I first purchased it as an ebook, it did NOT include all the stories, but before I was even finished reading it, a simple Kindle update added all the rest, making it certifiably "complete." So if you see a review of The Ultimate Collection that says it isn't complete, it's probably just an old review. At any rate, the "Film and Television Adaptations" and Beyond the Canon" synopsis sections at the end of the book are also included, but do not appear in the other Sherlock Holmes collections. Kindle formatting isn't so good in this one, however, unfortunately. Individual story/chapters aren't easily accessible from the drop down menu, as they are in other collected SH books. My five star rating is for the writing itself, which is of course, practically peerless.2 - The Complete Sherlock Holmes: Volumes 1-4 (The Heirloom Collection) - http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PT1PEY?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0* The Heirloom Collection isn't the absolute best compendium of SH stories, but it is extremely good. Most importantly, it does contain all 4 novels and 56 short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, though not always in the exact same order as other editions -- making it a little confusing, when comparing different editions, to determine if all the stories are actually included (and they really are). Design wise, the graphic presentation (font choices, layout, etc) of this "heirloom edition" is superb -- making it clearly better in that regard than perhaps any of the "complete" Sherlock Holmes books currently available. The color illustrations aren't bad either, but there really aren't all that many for such a large book, filled with so many classic tales. Good Kindle formatting overall, but not as good as it could have been.3 - The Complete Sherlock Holmes (Illustrated) (Top Five Classics Book 17) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=x_gr_w_bb?keywords=9781938938160&index=books&linkCode=qs&tag=httpwwwgoodco-20* This is the one actually being reviewed here. And it's the absolute best of the three, in my opinion. This Top Five Classics edition includes all 4 novels and 56 short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Kindle formatting is superb, and best of all, most (if not all) of the classic illustrations that accompanied the original, first run publication of each story are included. Some short stories even have up to three separate illustrations! Pretty much all of the plates are reproduced in pencil/pen & ink drawn black and white, but the quality of the artwork is vastly superior to what appears in most other SH collections.So for my money, the Top Five Classics edition (#3) is hands down the very best one currently available. Wish I'd known that before I purchased all three, but none of these collections were much more than $3 to $6 each, and the Sherlock Holmes: The Ultimate Collection was only 99 cents! So if you don't care about illustrations, design quality, or good Kindle formatting, then you can certainly save a few bucks by choosing that particular version of the book (see #1 above). On a final note, The Adventure of the Cardboard Box IS included in the Top Five Classics book, but appears in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes novel, as opposed to other editions that include it in the collected short story novel, His Last Bow. It's a little confusing at first, with so many "adventures" to keep track of, but rest assured, the Cardboard Box and all the rest really ARE there. So the game's afoot, no matter which edition you choose, but personally, if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably just buy the Top Five Classics edition.

Either you like the Holmes stores or you don't--I'm not here to review Conan Doyle's writing. But about this Kindle edition: first, it's peppered with typos--most of them obvious OCR errors that should have been fixed by whoever did the conversion to digital format. And second, ALL THE ILLUSTRATIONS HAVE BEEN OMITTED. I'm not talking about engravings of Holmes and Watson (although those are absent), but key plot items, such as the floorplans of houses, maps of estate grounds, the multiple secret messages in the "Adventure of the Dancing Men," and so on--images without which important plot points or indeed whole stories are lost on the reader. This is unforgivable.

The picture does no justice. I really like this product and have uploaded 2 pictures to show what it really looks like. It has that new book smell, thin pages, and it feels nice.

The one-star rating is for this Kindle edition, not for the stories themselves. I love the Sherlock Holmes canon, and wanted a copy on my Kindle. After purchasing this one, I actually returned it to get my $0.99 back because it doesn't have a table of contents. It's a collection of 4 novels and 56 short stories, and there is no way to search through for a specific story. Just start at the beginning and scroll forever. It can't be that difficult to code in a table of contents.

This review is for The Sherlock Holmes Collection: Slip-cased Set HardcoverI'll give this five stars for design, packaging and because it does contain the original Strand Magazine illustrations by Sidney Paget (and possibly others.) The package is, in fact, rather beautiful. But potential buyers should be aware that each of these six volumes is VERY SMALL compared to an average hardcover book - each book is the size of a small paperback (7" x 4 3/4"). I bought this collection because the print in my 1986 edition of The Complete Illustrated Sherlock Holmes was now too small and dense for my aged eyes and I was a bit worried at the size of these books when the box set arrived. Thankfully, the font used is clear and large enough for me. Might be a consideration for those readers with poor eyesight however.

This is a compelling new edition of the Oresteia. It rivals all existing Oresteia's and perhaps comes closest to Lattimore's version in accuracy and completeness of text. It is my favorite Oresteian Trilogy alongside Peter Meineck's version.Christopher Collard preserves the intricacy of Aeschylus's language while keeping the drama moving naturally. He does not force poetry or ideas into Aeschylus nor does he subtract, edit or delete words from the text (as often is done and can be seen in Fagels's and Vellacott's translations). The poetry comes out magically by itself.How Collard wins over Lattimore's version though is through the translation. The realism of the drama, the sentences structures, and the speeches all form naturally and normally. In Lattimore, the speeches and the drama becomes congested, contricted and (unnecessarily) complicated through how he structures the wording and poetry of Aeschylus's text. Collard does not use the tired and old fashion English like Lattimore, nor does he update the idom by using modern American English or slang. You can't really pinpoint which language style he's using, but indeed it is beautiful, readible and contemporary English. It's like he has become a transparent mouthpiece for Aeschylus and not mask of his own creation.There are also some very intriguing and very interesting touches Collard does within the plays. Throughout are descriptive italic markings, brackets and hyphens, indicating detailed stage directions and emotive expressions. He freely uses lyric, prose, and verse in his translation as Aeschylus does in various settings and scenarios.His is the most scholarly version as it incorporates the most up-to-date findings and research into Aeschylus and the Oresteia. From original to copied manuscripts, he compared many ancient and modern editions of the Oresteia and so some of his version includes subtle changes and slight differences when compared to other translations. He informs you of missing lines and includes passages that appear as fragments in the originals, which have been glossed over or not noticed by other translators.His explanatory notes and introduction are immensely extensive. They include so much research and attention to detail that one wonders how one man could know so much about Aeschylus and the Oresteia!The Contents not only have 4 incredible essays on Aeschylus and the Oresteia, but also include summaries of the plots, text & translation notes, a massive bibliography, a chronology of Aeschylus' life, family trees, and even a map of ancient Greece!I believe it is safe to say that Christopher Collard is now the leading interpreter of Aeschylus, and a milestone in the history of Aeschylean translation and scholarship.

The Ivar's Seafood Cookbook far exceeded my expectations! The pages are of a thick material that will hold up under use, and the stories and anecdotes are absolutely wonderful! Not to mention, the recipes are exactly what I was looking for when I ordered the book.This was well worth the money I spent. In the long run, the price I paid will be one of the greatest bargains ever!

Ivar's clam chowder is like eating in Ivar's on the waterfront. Great cookbook

I enjoyed eating at Ivar's on the Pier in Seattle so I thought I'd enjoy this book as a keepsake. The recipes look like they would be fun to try.

ONE CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY COOKBOOKS!!It's a good one and every one on the West Coast should have this in their library. I bought it for a friend who lives in Seattle and loves seafood.Next I'm going to buy one for ourselves.

Very nice book, in good condition, purchased just for the fish and chips recipe.

It's hard to imagine Seattle without Ivar's. Their Northwest cookbook is faithful to some of their original, staple dishes. The book itself is high quality, has great photos and a plethora of great recipes. The included history and commentary is both informative and light-hearted. A must-have for any Northwest chef. Would make a great gift as well.

Haven't made any of the recipes in this book yet. But have browsed through the book and saw a few which immediately caught my eye. Will be gathering the ingredients soon.
