About the Author

Robert Bolt (1924–1995) was distinguished as one of the most successful British writers of his generation. Bolt was an English playwright who earned a degree in history from Manchester University in 1949 and intended to be a school teacher after serving in the Royal Air Force. The incredible success of his first play, Flowering Cherry (staged in 1957/1958), drove Bolt into becoming a full-time playwright. Robert Bolt is best known for his most successful play, A Man for All Seasons (staged in 1960), which won five Tony Awards, starring Paul Scofield on Broadway. Bolt himself wrote the film version, adapted in 1966 for director Fred Zinnemann. The motion picture received six Oscars, including an award for Best Screenplay.

A modern description of a historical event, this play describes the tribulations of Sir Thomas More during the split between the Roman Catholic Church and the newly-formed Church of England. The play lays out the historical details clearly and articulately. The writing is engaging and accessible. Most importantly, the depiction of More is true to everything we know about his personality and morals.The fascinating part for me is More's approach to the law. There are some very memorable quotes in this play that anyone wanting to understand the law would do well to study. More's character lays out some deep questions about the nature of proof. His situation (and the eventual resolution of his case) illustrate the continuing tension between law as a pure exercise in reason and law as an instrument of state power. Enjoyable as the play is, it is a cautionary tale.Wonderful as the story is, Bolt's use of the Common Man and the frequent stage directions were a distraction to me - especially with all the hats. I understand the mood that Bolt was trying to set but whenever those parts of the play came around, they actually jolted me out of that mood.

As a community college student I believe this book would be an excellent addition to any list of political novels for required reading. Its theme is religious freedom, but it's also about government, and how too much power to the center can influence everyone's understanding of morality and values. Because King Henry the VIII said so, there were new definitions for marriage. Was he right? Most people now would say yes, but Thomas Moore speaks of objective truth and how it cannot be changed despite humanity willing it changed.If you're not into ethics, it's also a character study. Robert Bolt isn't/wasn't Catholic, so this isn't him gushing about a saint, but he did make Thomas Moore entirely admirable and yet human. He was primarily a man of the law, and when he defends himself in the play he always goes by the law, not religious sentiment, so you see the other courtly figures conspiring against him by rewriting the rules in their favor.I could not put this down. Keep the cast of characters list handy so you can follow along in the beginning, but I promise you'll find something to be drawn to. This is a classic.

My preordered book was not damaged at all. I love that each recipe has a picture, even includes the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat boost you get with each one. Lists prep time, cook time, what it pairs well with & even how many servings are in each recipe so you can easily double up on ingredients if you're cooking for your vault party!ðŸ˜ The last few drinks are alcoholic, but all the Nuka-Colas are kid friendly!!Only complaints.... "Psycho" does not have a recipe.ðŸ˜

I've had this book for almost two weeks now, and I've enjoyed preparing several meals out of it so far! Each recipe has a full-page picture on the opposite page accompanying it. There are loads of humorous notes and descriptions in the book, as well as some nice artwork on the inside covers and some clever nods to the game (such as the S.P.E.C.I.AL. stats). The quality of the book itself is also great; it's hardcover and printed on high-quality paper. The recipes range from appetizers to desserts and everything in between, and they all have clearly-written instructions including prep time and servings. Some are more difficult to prepare than others but there's many that even a novice cook could pull off with ease.The one thing that was a slight disappointment was that there are few clear instructions on how to adjust the recipes in case you need to substitute ingredients. Some recipes call for ingredients that may be somewhat difficult to find, and having some dietary restrictions myself that may be an issue for some buyers. However, this is a problem I've found with most other cookbooks that aren't specifically tailored for people on a special diet. Overall I think the author did a great job of including a wide variety of recipes, and many of them have ingredients such as coconut milk if you're lactose intolerant. There are even some vegetarian recipes included as well, like the meatloaf. Also, the recipes that call for ingredients such as bison work well with other meats. I tried one with beef and it cooked up wonderfully!Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the Nuka-Cola recipe was more generic than the 17 fruit flavors the game states it has. I wasn't expecting to add 17 different fruits into a drink recipe anyway but there's really only a handful of citrus and cinnamon flavors that come through to differentiate it from regular cola. The Nuka-Cola Quantum recipe seems better in this regard since there's also fruit punch and pomegranate included. Aside from that the drink recipes seem to be tasty, and there's a nice amount that are non-alcoholic as well. I got what I expected and I didn't find the content of the book to be out of setting. For what it is (a Fallout-branded cookbook) I think the author did an excellent job and I've enjoyed flipping through it just to read the notes. If you're either a fan of the game or just a chef looking for some unique spins on recipes (the chili comes to mind) then this is a must-have. Looking forward to the Elder Scrolls one as well!

If you are familiar with Asian cooking you will feel right at home with this cook book. Fortunately for me I am, and I am a huge fallout fan, and I have an Asian market right across the street from my house. If you arnt familiar with Asian ingredients, and don't have access to an Asian market you might have trouble sourcing some of the ingredients. My opinion, this cookbook should have been written with recipes more friendly to the average home cook. Otherwise, the art is lovely and the recipes look interesting, there are no quick, easy recipes in this book, they all require a fair amount of prep and work, so if you have the time and like cooking it will be a fun addition to your collection. If you're a novice cook you may feel a bit overwhelmed, especially since some of the recipes include things like Browning sauce for nuka cola, or citric acid for at least one of the desserts. Honestly, I don't think I would buy another cookbook from this author, but I am happy to have a fallout cookbook for my collection.

I've made 3 receipes so far from this book, Yum Yum devilled eggs, Blamco Mac and cheese, and the Quantum mud pie. Both the non-dessert items had quite a spicy kick to them, but I am wondering if that was the authors intention to simulate the Rads you normally get from eating those pre-war foods found in game. If it was, it's pretty neat! The only issue I have is that a lot of the recipes have hard to find ingredients (duck, lamb, miso paste, a few others). Also in some of the dessert recipes they list "heavy wipping cream" and then "heavy cream". Those two things are the same item. There is a difference between "wipping cream" and "heavy cream/heavy wipping cream", but there is no difference between "heavy cream" and "heavy wipping cream". Just thought that it could be pretty confusing for a beginner dessert maker

This book is great for any cooking level. The best part of this book is that every single recipe has a picture next to it. My favorite thing though is that this includes something for everyone. You've got chicken, beef, ice cream, alcoholic drinks, soups, and even stuff for vegetarians and bakers. Haven't tried any recipes yet but there is a great recipe for Crab Stuffed Salmon (The Mirelurk Queen Steak) that I'm dying to try this weekend. Some recipes call for duck or bison which may be hard to find in some places but these can easily be substituted if need be! Have a great time cooking fellow vault dwellers!

This book has stuff from fallout 3, 4 and 76! I've already made the Nuka cola, the meringues and the chili. They were all really good. There some weird and hard to find ingredients. The chili had coffee which was yummy, but if you eat a lot you may not be able to sleep. My wife and I are gourmet chefs and this book is very in line with that. If you have a refined pallet this is for you. If you don't want to hunt down things like cardamom "pods" and fenigreek this may not be the cook book for you.

I just received this book the other day but so far so good. The pictures of tractors in the book are nice and show different scenes of tractors working on the farm. Each page is thick cardboard material that is easy for little hands to turn. I think this will be become my toddlerâ€™s favorite book.My only criticism is the actual shape of the book. I donâ€™t think the book looks quite like it does in the picture online. From the online picture I thought just the top half of the book will be shaped like the tractor profile, but the book I received the first pages are cut around the tractor tires too. Not a big deal, but I wanted to point out the design since it wasnâ€™t obvious to me online. This is the first 'Shaped Board Books' Iâ€™ve ordered so maybe theyâ€™re all like that, but my toddler loves the book just fine.

Excellent resource. I have several tractor history books, and this one is the best. Lots of pages. Lots of information. Lots of pictures. The only thing I don't like (and this is not the only book that does this) is: why would a bloomin' photo reference book print pictures over the gutter! Many of the tractors cannot truly be visualized because of being split in half at the middle and partially consumed by binding. For those you'd have to do a web search or something -- which you should NOT have to do when you pay for such a fine book. But otherwise, it's great.

Arrived torn and battered but my grandson was staying with me and I needed a book to read! I would have returned it but we used it this weekend! Rey disappointed in the condition it was received in but my grandson loved the story and pictures. I just taped it up and we just read it over and over.

My grandson loves his new tractor book. I love all the "touch and feel" books as all my grandkids really are able to get involved while I'm reading the book and I think it teaches them about texture and helps them understand the concept. Great purchase.

Kiddo loves tractors, and mom loves that for once this tractor is red, not green if you know what I mean! The only reason I gave it four stars is that my kid quickly over bends the pages and causes wear/tears in the inside binding. Nothing that some packing take in the folds doesn't cover.

I have other touch and feel books and the quality of the "touchable" items on this one isn't quite as good as the other books I have.

Fun book that our 2 year â€œfarmerâ€ loves looking through. He is learning a lot and loves the vibrant pictures that go with. It is very well designed book and the shape makes it that much more interesting for young kids.

My son LOVES tractors & BEYOND loves this book! He's entranced every time he turns each page! It's both interesting and educational!!

This is an easy to read edition of the Quran. I always wanted to read it but the previous editions have been oddly organized or hard to read. Muslims don't believe you can translate the Quran. The word of God was delivered to the Arabs in their language so its impossible to change God's words. Most Muslims would refer to these books as "interpretations".I am happy to have read the book. As a Christian I realize how twisted my conception of it was. There are no 70 virigins, no chopping people's heads off and no Sharia. Its message is to believe in the one God, live morally, give to the poor and be tolerant of others.

I LOVE this translation - it's so much easier to read than most others.I've ordered both the Kindle version and the physical book and would honestly suggest the Kindle version more. It lets you read the paragraph form translation but doesn't take up half the page with commentary - you just click on the comment number next to the end of the verse and it jumps to the commentary on a separate page. You can also favorite passages and can easily navigate from the table of contents.The translation itself is so refreshing - Br. Emerick translates very broadly (as the Quran should be) and explains why he chose certain English meanings for words over other ones - but supplies the others in the commentary for your own benefit). He translates into something any Muslim born in the Western Hemisphere can read without feeling confused or bored. I would seriously suggest this for younger Muslims as it's different than any other translation they may come across.I've given this as a gift so many of my friends and they all talk about how wonderful it is - even ones who have never read the translation before in their lives. It's honestly worth every penny!

I am use to reading in Arabic and the translation of those Ayat in English. So it is a bit different in reading everything in English.

Many people cast judgment on races and colors of people. I want to know more about who they are, their religion, their customers. I find this fascinating. I read comments that this is not always the correct translation but,I am sure the Christian Bible is the same way. it's fine for me.

All Quran references in the world share the format "chapter#:verse#". The kindle table of contents in this book doesn't list the chapter numbers, only the English translation of the chapter name, so you can't look anything up. It's useless.

I purchased this hoping it would help with translating the Arabic to English when I read Quran with my young teen daughter. This was such an easy read that she picked it up and began reading on her own.

This is the English Quran I read for pleasure! I've suffered through the years with multiple versions of the Quran in English and this is by far my favorite. The language flows easily, modern, without pretension, clear and comprehensible with good notes. I've really been enjoying reading Quran during Ramadan this year.
